Roger's Requirements For Self-Actualization
Rogers is another humanistic psychologist for said that all people have the ability to grow and fulfill themselves. However, to foster this growth, certain environmental conditions are needed. These conditions are genuineness, acceptance, and empathy. He said that people help others grow and fulfill their potential by being genuine, meaning they are open and transparent with the people they have relationships with. Also, they help others fulfill themselves with acceptance. This means that someone can be themselves with another person and not feel judged. This is unconditional positive regard in which someone completely and totally accepts a person without exception. The last condition needed for someone to help others fulfill themselves in empathy. This means that someone listens to and understands the feelings of another person helping them open up and feel like other people understand who they are
